Heinz-Joachim Schöttes (58) takes office as airberlin’s Head of Corporate Affairs at the beginning of April. This appointment is a further step in reorganising the airline by new Chief Executive Officer Thomas Winkelmann. “Heinz-Joachim Schöttes is an outstanding communications pro and will support airberlin with his expertise in the process of reorienting the airline”, said Chief Executive Officer Thomas Winkelmann. Schöttes will report directly to the CEO.
Schöttes previously worked for the Eurowings Group, where as Head of Media Relations he was responsible for the media work of the high quality low cost airline of the Lufthansa Group. Before that, as Head of Corporate Communications at Germanwings he was responsible for all communication activities of the low-cost airline from the establishment of the airline on 1 November 2002. Before joining Germanwings Schöttes, who graduated from the London School of Economics, worked in the main editorial offices of the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, the news agency ddp and as a national political correspondent at the news agency dpa.
