Eco-efficient flying

airberlin is taking its “Eco-Efficient Flying” programme to a very ambitious level. It comprises more than 55 measures in the areas of flight planning, weight reduction, aircraft modernization and flight operation, which reduce emissions and conserve fuel. Since 2008 airberlin’s experts have been working consistently on the programme and involving all the different departments in the company. airberlin is adopting an integrated approach to fuel efficiency, since diverse factors need to interact in order to achieve a reduction in CO₂ emissions. With all the the measures introduced to achieve fuel efficiency, airberlin reduced its total CO₂ emissions by more than 100,000 tonnes in 2012 alone.
