Compliance is, of course, a subject that is high on the agenda at airberlin. Compliance means complying with relevant legal requirements and adhering to internal company regulations and principles. airberlin views compliance as an integral part of its company culture and expects employees to act in a legal and ethical manner in all their business dealings.
All airberlin employees receive support in this area from the compliance functions within the group. The central compliance department coordinates airberlin’s compliance activities, assisted by local compliance officers in the decentralized companies and business locations.
The main focus of these compliance activities is to prevent compliance violations. This includes, above all, raising awareness and providing guidance for employees and setting up a reliable framework for action by means of compulsory standards. Amongst other things, employees undergo various compliance training courses. A binding Code of Conduct establishes the ground rules for the way employees should behave in their business dealings.
